Game 35 Rectangle Fit

$0.99

Roll two dice and fit that rectangle onto your grid without overlapping. When you can no longer fit one, you are out. Last player standing wins.

Description

How it works

The leader rolls two dice and everyone shades a rectangle of those dimensions somewhere on their grid, writing the matching multiplication fact inside it. Rectangles may be oriented either way but must not overlap. As the grid fills, placement becomes a real problem — a 4×6 needs somewhere a 4×6 will actually go. When you cannot fit the rolled rectangle, you are out, and the last players remaining win. Children who are out can keep playing unofficially, which is worth doing so nobody sits idle.

What you’ll need

  • Two dice
  • The printable Rectangle Fit recording sheet, or graph paper roughly 10×20
  • A pencil per player

Skills practiced

Multiplication as area, connecting dimensions to a product, and spatial planning.

3rd through 5th grade. Use 10-sided dice with a larger centimetre grid to extend it.
